How do you use a multimeter?
Set the dial to what you're measuring (voltage, resistance or current), plug the probes into the matching ports, and touch them across the component. If you're unsure of the range, start high and work down.
How do you test for voltage with a multimeter?
Select DC or AC volts, put the black probe on neutral/ground and the red on the point you're testing. A live UK socket should read around 230V AC; a healthy car battery about 12.6V DC.
